Marcie is an holistic therapist. What does that mean?Marcie Stancer --- TOP to TOE Holistic Therapies, Sherburn in Elmet, and Tadcaster, North Yorkshire Phone 0782 132 0065 When a person is treated by conventional medicine (GP, consultant or hospital specialist) the practitioner uses their scientific knowledge to diagnose the illness and then they treat the symptoms using drugs or, in more extreme cases, with surgery. Holistic therapy works on the principle of treating the whole person; the mind, body, emotions and the spirit. The term 'holistic' comes from the Greek word Holos meaning all, entire, total.
The therapist works with the client to establish the underlying causes of any illness they may have and then helps to bring about natural balance and harmony to the person as a whole. All treatments are tailored specifically to each individual client.
The therapist is not just concerned with the presenting condition but all conditions. These may or may not be apparent, but holistic treatments look at everything about the client, their general health background, their job, their home life, sleep patterns, diet and exercise regimes. Thus working with the aim of keeping people in a balanced state, helping prevent the onset of disease or illness.
